On Nov. 15^th, Zhejiang University signed a cooperation agreement with Sanya Government and China Merchants Hainan Development and Investment co., ltd. to jointly establish Hainan Research Institute, Zhejiang University. President of Zhejiang University, Zhaohui Wu, Vice President of Zhejiang University, Lizhong Wang, Governor of Hainan Province, Xiaoming Shen, and Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Lu Wang, attended the signing ceremony.

         Around ocean research (abyssal region) and tropical agriculture (south breeding species), Hainan Research Institute, Zhejiang University will train postgraduate students from agricultural-related and ocean-related major. According to economic and social development in Hainan, Hainan Research Institute, Zhejiang University will  take research and innovation and transform scientific and technological achievements to support National “the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road” strategy.

    Director of AES, Prof. Fucheng Lin, and Vice Director of AES, Dr. Wenjian Song, attended the signing ceremony and accompanied President Zhaohui Wu and other staff to inspect the laboratory building of tropical crops whose construction area is 11,000 square meter and which had put to use.
